about us

Welcome to Barrett’s located in Roanoke, Va. I’m a southern girl who grew up watching my Grandma make fried chicken and biscuits to feed generations of families at her restaurant, Longview, in Rocky Mount, Va. I still believe there is nothing better than the aroma of a warm chocolate chip cookie or fresh biscuits from the oven. With inspiration from my Southern roots and my Grandma, Barbara, I decided to share my love for these Southern staples.

In 2016, Barrett’s started in Raleigh, NC with the help of my best friend, Laurel. With a goal to serve the wedding industry, we quickly pivoted to wholesale. During my time in Raleigh, I partnered with local businesses including The Butcher’s Market, The Optimist, Michael’s English Muffins & Raleigh Cheesy. Just as Grandma spread love through fried chicken & biscuits, I strive to make deliciously soft cookies and buttery biscuits that taste fresh out of Grandma’s kitchen.

Simply southern.  Baked with love.

ELLEN

Born & raised in Rocky Mount, Va. Ellen is a small town girl that loves the big city.  She grew up working with her Grandma in her southern style restaurant where she first learned to bake biscuits at 5.  She attended Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!) & currently works in the corporate space of the automotive aftermarket. She lived in Raleigh for 9 years and enjoyed all the City of Oaks had to offer. She decided to move back to Roanoke in 2023 to be close to family, friends, & the mountains she few up taking for granted. She founded Barrett’s with the hopes of inspiring people to create special memories with family and friends like she did with her Grandma.
